The Antitrust Authority (Autorità Garante della Concorrenza e del Mercato) has today communicated to Unical SpA (a Buzzi Unicem subsidiary) its decision on the procedure started April 3rd, 2003 concerning eleven producers of ready-mix concrete, among which Unical.
In its decision, the Authority has considered that these producers have participated from end of 1999 to 2002 in an agreement restricting competition, within the concrete market in the Milano area.
The Authority has therefore fined the participants in the agreement and particularly Unical has been fined € 11 million.
Unical considers the Authority’s decision to be groundless, rejects all charges and intends to appeal the decision at the Lazio’s TAR (Regional Administrative Court of Law).
