Unical for the Archeological Park in Syracuse

The Archaeological Park of Syracuse is located in the historic center of the city and contains some of the most important antiquities in Sicily, including the 5th century B.C. Greek Theater which is still used to put on classical plays. The archaeological area is also rich in majestic limestone caves (Latomie) such as the Latomia del Paradiso, named the "Ear of Dionysius" by Caravaggio due to its characteristic S shape and exceptional acoustic properties.
Some of the walkways between the various monuments of the site were cracked and had potholes, so the company charged with repairing them asked Unical to identify the best product for restoring and securing the walkways and several squares.

Considering the architectural setting and the requirements of the Cultural Heritage Agency, Unical proposed a custom-made mortar for floor screeds with moderate hygrometric shrinkage, which maintains the same workability for 60 minutes and has small particle size (Dmax 8 mm), to allow the finishing of 5-7 cm thick floor screeds. The work was completed to the full satisfaction of the customer and the Cultural Heritage Agency.
