Enviromental Product Declaration (EPD)

Buzzi Unicem is committed to ensuring that the products and services it markets are used properly and do not constitute a health or safety hazard either for customers and end-users.
The Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a modern communication tool, able to quantify and reveal the energy and environmental content/impact of a product or service, describing both its general features and particular aspects.
In 2004, Buzzi Unicem has registered an EPD document related to cement produced in the Vernasca plant, first case in the world.
Since 2011 the group has decided to extend the study, the subsequent certificartion and registration to all the cement produced in the Italian cement plants.

UNI EN ISO 14001

ISO 14001 is a voluntary international standard, applicable to any type of business, which defines how an effective environmental management system must be organized and operated. ISO 14001 certification issued by an accredited independent organization shows the company’s effective commitment and effort to minimize the environmental impact of its industrial processes, products, services and certifies the reliability of the environmental management being applied. The standard requires the company to set its environmental goals and targets and to implement an environmental management system capable of achieving them.

OHSAS 18001

OHSAS 18001 certification (Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series) establishes the requirements for management of occupational health and safety. The standard was developed by a task force made up of the main industry associations, international standard-setting bodies and certification entities (including Det Norske Veritas), to remedy the lack of an international benchmark, certifiable by an independent third party. With the application of the OHSAS standard, the management system is assessed at several different levels. The standard’s degree of applicability depends on the company’s occupational health and safety policy, the nature of its business activity and the operating conditions.
