Buzzi Unicem’s Quality & Technical Assistance team, together with Unical’s R&D department, has introduced a new method in its Italian laboratories to assess cement performance using bubble charts.

This simple yet effective graphical representation shows how cements react with water, with or without additives, and highlights the operational levers to optimize performance. The method simulates industrial concrete behavior using specially designed pastes and mortars, collecting data to improve workability, strength, and product stability.

Applied to a wide range of Buzzi Unicem cements and supported by advanced analysis tools, the laboratories can quickly evaluate new formulations and ensure high standards for end customers.

The project demonstrates how innovation, cross-functional collaboration, and simple tools can generate value and sustainability, making quality control clearer, faster, and practical every day in the plants.
