When 197/1 was converted from an experimental standard (ENV) to a harmonized standard (hEN) in 2001, all EU countries were forced to implement it.

The revised EN 197/1 standard in 2011 extended coverage to new cements that member states had experimented with and developed over the years, thus allowing us to expand our offering to include products that are more sustainable and have less impact on the environment. As a result of this standard, all 27 types of cement produced in the EU must comply with the same requirements, use the same types of constituents, meet the same composition limits, as well as undergo periodic audits using the same rules and conducted by a European accredited Notified Body, which issues the CE marking and certificate of constancy of performance if the outcome is positive.
